Future Career

I’m studying Cinema and Television; majors are Documental, Fiction and Television. Past year I took Documental, this semester I have taken Fiction and the next year I’m going to take Television.

Well, in my career that majors are obligatory/compulsory and you should learn every job on the audiovisual area: photograph director, editing, scripts, sound, director, producer, switch, create TV programs, investigation, etc. The only problem I think (and a lot of classmates think too) are the semesters very shorts, teacher who leave us because they are making their films (or another projects) and we learn a little about the technical things. Besides sometimes we got strikes. If I could take more majors, I would like take them on Arts and theater Faculty, like experimental cinema, draw, photography, theater design for television, make up… things like these, related with colors too.

I would like job doing scripts for television programs and series, spots, documental and if I have luck I would like to make three films. I love to direct and be the organization person (like producer or director’s assistant) or make scripts. So I think I will choose this way to job. Then, to do this job, I think its necessary a lot of concentration and creativity, always.

If I was asked in a job interview about my strengths and weaknesses, I would say I need (…)

Best new year's party ever

Well, I think the best New Year’s party ever, was the last one. I always have with my grandparents this date, always it's very boring and I got drunk only with champagne and piscola. But this one among all my new year's party was the best, because 2011 was a very difficult year to me. I had a lot of problems and the New Year got to me new hopes.

I was with my grandparents, Emma and Jose, and my mom. They ate a lot of food, I didn’t because was the first time I was on diet so, I took care with food but not with the drink. There were barbecue, salads, rice, potatoes, wine, soufflés, ramitas and peanuts. My grandmother decorated the house. When we finished the dinner, turned on the TV and we watched the countdown.

My mother, my grandma and me had planned a lot of cabalas like eat 12 grapes and make a wish per month, sit and stand up, the yellow underwear, lentils, we saved money in pockets, etc. If I think about this, any wish was conceded u.u but it was a wonderful way to leave behind the terrible 2011.

Later, arrived my uncle Antonio and his family and I drank a lot of champagne and laugh a lot with family histories although they were repeated. My uncle brought the cotillion and was very beautiful.

Little things to be a recycler person.

I think people can learn about environmentally friendly practices at home with little things like turn off the light and close water keys when you’re not using them or in the garden you should wet the floor before you sweep it because dust don’t pollute, for example.

I haven’t incorporated recycling into my habits because it demands a lot of time, I haven’t informed about the different practices and because I forget it. I think I don’t have mind. So, sometimes when glass break I throw the pieces into the common trash (then, I either separate the trash into organic, paper, plastic or glass)

I don’t have a car. I live so far of the university then I have to take bus and it take about an hour. If I used the bike, I would take two hours… It’s a lot. But in summer or holidays I try to use the bike as much it’s possible.

Sometimes in Ahumada street (or some like that Estado or Huerfanos I don’t remember the name of the street) in the centre of city, there are a lot of stand with different organizations, among them there are eco- organizations. I would like to join to someone but I don’t have a lot of recycling habits and they ask your signature, money and a pledge with the organization…so I don’t have enough time and money to take the pledge.

Well I think all people should learn little practices like trash separation or use the bike little more. Chilean government is very capitalist so the bike price go up in the last years I think. Besides there is not cycle paths in the far areas like La Pintana (before Transantiago there is one cycle path, the largest in Santiago, but we missed it). All is business. But these are little and easy things to start: trash and bike.

Video Game

I don’t know a lot about videogames and I’m not good playing them. But the videogames I know are Donkey Kong, Mario bros, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instict, Street Fighter, Pacman and the Sims. Latest videogames I know where Angy Bird and Bubble Switch Saga (or some game similar) and some games of WII. Well, the only one game I choose of these is Mario Bros because I always play it without get bored me. I know it since my father gave me a Nintendo console and I played it so many times, many hours with my cousins. I didn’t love it so much I preferred to play to hide- and –seek or play in the park… but when we played with Nintendo we compete with candies. I never got to complete the game, because Mario Bros has a lot of versions with a lot of levels or “worlds” like the country, desert, sea, under sea, Egyptian pyramids, etc. My favorite Mario Bros is “Super Mario World” by this graphics, music, the character Yoshi and the colors, although I played it few times.

Loving Dalí.

My favourite famous painters are Frida Kalho, Vincent Van Gogh and Salvador Dalí... but today I will choose to tell you about Salvador Dalí because he had a very close relationship with the audiovisual world.

"Lugubrious game", Dalí 1929.
He was born on May 11th of 1904, Catalonia. He had a brother who died nine months before him and his name also was Salvador, so he had a personality crisis where he thought he was his dead brother. In the year 1916, Salvador Dalí discovered the contemporary painting when with his family traveled to Cadaques and meet to Ramon Pichot who advised him to continue with paint and draw. Then in 1922 he entered to Student's Residence in Madrid and studied at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando (here he know to Federico Garcia Lorca and Luis Buñuel) until 1926 he was expelled from the academy because he said nobody had the capacity to exam him.

In 1929 he joined to surrealist movement and collaborate with Luis Buñuel in one of the first surrealistic films: A chien Andalou.

Surrealism is a literary and paint movement based on Dadaism (nihilist destruction) and the psychological theories. This style tries to express how the mind works. So the interpretation is very difficult and used to use the Freud and Jung theories, although they are not enough after all.

Dalí paintings talk about what how much mind is uncontrollable and out of order; then sometimes his paints had cropofilic messages. So, I love Dalí paintings because his freedom and his indecipherable messages.

The Best Holiday

My best holidays were on 2008 summer. I always travell to Coquimbo, every year. Sometimes It has been a bit boring the same places and the same persons but that was a very fun travell. That year I remember that my aunt was living with her couple and She had a little red car. She was telling to my grandparents about her trip with her boyfriend and I want to go with Them so I invited myself and She didn't say anything. Next day arrives to my grandparents house a girl who I couldn't  meet but I knew She was niece of the boyfriend of my aunt and  the next day I meet her a little more in the long way to Coquimbo.
The first stop was on Los Vilos. In there we took some pictures but we didn't talk a lot.

They are my aunt and her boyfriend.
The second stop was on Ovalle. I have family in there, so that was the central point to all our little trips by the region. In there we eat Parrillada and we went to a lot of rivers also reservoirs like Tranque "La Paloma". From there We had little trips and for the first time I visited a lot of places wich I had not been before in Coquimbo. I visited "Valle del Encanto" a place which have a lot of archaeologic vestiges/traces, Pisco Cochiguaz, Gabriela Mistral's house and Canela. I had visited Tongoy but in this travell I know a black beach in there and I also knew Socos.

Hizis and Me in "Valle del Encanto"
We returning of Tongoy
One of the returns to Ovalle, I finally get to meet the unknowing girl and we became big friends until today. One day we bought Gatolate and talk a lot. We had a lot in common and because of this I think they were the best holidays in the lastest year in my life. I travelled a lot and I meet a really great friend.

Three Countries

Someday I talked with a friend about this "Where would you like to go?" and a lot of countries and places came to my mind. “I’d like to know Centre America, some country in Europe or China" I answer and I'd like to know them because there are beautiful places, monuments and buildings and peace. I can't choose among those countries, so I will talk about them all.

If I could to do the trip now, I will begin in Europe. I'd like to know Italy and his country (it remembers me the gangster movies), then Spain maybe, Germany and its houses (and drink a lot of beer), Louvre and Eiffel tower in Paris and finally England: the Big Ben and the Buckingham palace. After Europe, I want to travel to Centre America to know Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, all countries if it could be possible. I'd like to know Maya and Aztecs pyramids, to dance, swim in warm beaches; meet the people and their customs. And finally I want to go to China to know ancestral buildings, the big Chinese wall, the country and also know customs.

I'd like to study in Europe and Centre America maybe in France and Cuba about cinema, work a little time and bring to Chile some skill and technique. And pass my last years in the East to rest and know its life philosophy.

Still learnig how to be a good film director.

Here go again!

Well the first term of 2012 was very quiet. This second term has not happen the same, today we're on strike. But I want to tell you about the first term! :P

I'm studying Cinema & Television on 3th grade. We must learn in this grade how to make a good filming. So teacher asks you in each little filming excercise that you participate in different roles like director, producer, scriptwriter, cameramen (or woman), soundman (or woman), editor, assitant. I was director, producer and soundwoman. I love being the director in one. It was a very difficult experience because the day of filmming it was raining and the place we had planned with the team work was on a open air, so we must to decide very quickly another place. But it was a little inconvenience. The real job of a director is with the actors. You can give to a script a interpretation, images, sensations, whatever you like and then you decide how the actors should  work. Then in the set or filming place you direct the actors and they give you ideas too. I learnt it's a very fine work and beautiful because you meet people and you try to be more human and comprehensive and you learn to think strategies to get an actor emotion (I think it is the most difficult :s).

CHORRILLANA

Well, today we talk about your favourite food.  I love to eat. A lot. I love all kind of dishes except Garbanzos, but that's not the theme. I love Chilean food, a lot! but when I go out in the night and I want to eat something I couldn't to eat Pastel de choclo or Cazuela... I could prefer a dish what you could to share with your friends with beers. Do you know the Chorrillanas?

All the people know about Chorrillana, It's a very delicious meal. It consist in a bed of french fries, scrambled eggs with onion fried and minced beef over them. Trought the years, It had been modified adding longanizas, pork, cheese, sausage or other things depending of the place. And the name is know by the drip ("chorreo") of onion, eggs and meat that is produced over the french fries.

Story or mith about the birth of Chorrillana tells about a club founded on Valparaiso twenty years ago in honor to Jose Cruz Martines for delight to retired suboficials of carabineros where delicius meals where cook to them. Today the "Jota Cruz" is a very popular and picturesque restaurant decorated with a lot of antiques and people write on the walls when visit it on Valparaíso where still Chorrillana is sold.

I took this photo when I visited the "Jota Cruz". It's very very VERY DELICIOUS meal in all the place where it is cooked... :)

Gonzalo Maruri

We were in a very cold day sit in a very cold room with Gonzalo Maruri, but his kind warm up the atmosphere. He is a very important writter of cinema scripts in Chile. He was born in the centre of Santiago in a big house. He wrotte the most success scripts: "Se acabó la fiesta" and "Sin Compromisos" what have won a lot of prizes in the world.

It was very important to me meet him because I need a inspiration to write my scripts and he knows how to do a good one. He keeps fresh his mind writting a lot, every day. He likes in his free time to write short stories about the city, people who go by the life very fast, modern human how I say with my words.

He discovered his talent in the highscool writing a play about a guy who found a suitcase full of money and the protagonist had contradictory emotions like visions what try to convince him to return the money, give it to the poors, buy a lot of pleasure things, etc.  The play was act in the "School Week" and won!!

To the finish of conversation he gave me a lot of tips and I have got the inspiration now :)

Cronopios and Famas.

I haven’t read a lot of books in my life, I prefer films. But if we need to talk about books, I love those with short stories and I love the writer Julio Cortazar. My favourite book is “Historias de Cronopios y de famas”. He works very well the fantasy. One day; I must to tell you, I stole the book when I found it, because I loved it a lot.

These short stories are about daily situations, like instructions to cry, how to up at the stairs, instructions to get scared; Cortazar also invent the Cronopios, Famas and Esperanzas characters. I don’t understand very well how really these characters are, but they have human characteristics: Cronopios: I relate them with the time and crazy, with to do all things quickly by the sufijo “Cronos”. Famas I think they are more formal, correct, introspective. And the Esperanzas I think they are plain, indolent, unimaginative and dull. All the stories are fantastic and beautiful, because the point of view about the life of this book is very simple and too ingenious.

I hoped to find a quote in English, but It wasn’t in the web. So I put an extract here:

Here is a review of the book on Amazon.
5 stars El mejor ensayo poético que he leído, October 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Historias De Cronopios Y De Famas/Cronopios and Famas (Paperback)
A Must Buy Book.

I’m a lot agree with him, I laugh with some stories, but I got really introspective when I read this book because I thought  how somebody can tell you short stories of a daily wich seems too simple but uses a complex vocabulary sometimes. I love a lot the characters because them everyway are naive and the book is really vanguardist, a bit surrealistic.

Grandparents

I like to take photos always, but i love a lot to take photos on special dates like christmas, new year, birthdays, weddings and baptisms specially if my grandparents and my little cousin are in the ceremony or party. They are very important in my life, so I think I must to capture this special and wonderful moments to the future when they are more old.

These people are my grand parents, this moment is before to go to a cousin wedding by the 21th of October 2011. We' were waiting the rest of family to take a van. They were delaying a lot, so I' took the opportunity of their pretty clothes and good mood because my grandfather doesn't like be photographed.

I was very nervous because it was the first time I used my new camera, so this photo was very difficult to take. I had to do it quickly because my grandparent didn't know about the process to take a manual photograph and I took it a little moved, besides my grandfather is taller than me so I had to craned my arms to be able to take him

I know this is not a great neither good photo for you, but I love it, because they are my parents, obviously, and they are good look with pretty and elegant clothes. Specially, I love this photo because they are kissing theirselves. I love them. :)

JGM tips

1) Forget the most of your networks: facebook, twitter, myspace, youtube, messenguer only helps to your procastination when you have to study. You must organize your time and when you might take a break, sign in a red social but be careful, you can pass the time you give yourself to rest.

2) Arrive early at friday: in a past time, one friday ocurred an accident (a gas ballon exploted and got burn a part of the campus which it was seem be provocated) so since that day security asks your university card identification and if you need to return to the party, you must to do it before 4 o' clock.

3) Be always prepared to escape: It's so difficult to know when the "capuchas" will protest and make disturbance on the filosophy faculty. So Carabineros (the police) arrive and throw tear bombs. You have three chances: became a another capucha; stay at the university, suck lemon juice (please put a lemon on your bag everyday) and continue your class, and if the situacion is danger (sometimes violence is too much) you must to run how much you can.

Eternal Sunshine

Well, I'm a filmaking student, so I had seen a lot of movies and I love to do it when I have enough time. But I must to decide one film what tell you here. It's hard to decide, because I had a lot of favourite movies and cinema directors. I love "Donnie Darko" the director's cut. But I will choose "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" because Jim Carrey is my favourite northamerican actor (and because I saw it too many times, that I memorized it).

Eternal Sunshine is a film that talks about the love, the unforgettable love. Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) go to the Lacuna inc. to delete his memories about  his girlfriend Clementine Kruczynski (Kate Winslet) who also deleted him from her mind because they had a lot of problems like a couple and she was suffering a lot. The films is how them scape along the Joel's mind erasing and how he tries to save her to decision that he took. Everything is about their loving memories. It's a very beautiful film.

Michel Gondry had directed another film that I love a lot. He directed before this film,  "La science des rêves" that talks about the impossible love (in that act Gael García). He works about the dreams or imagination, so he uses in that films surrealistic images (like the previous photogram of Eternal Sunshine where we can saw that it's raining on the room) and a lot of colours (like Clementine hair and clothes). Also he works making videoclips. Bjork and the White Stripes are the most known musicians who he had worked. Also he made the "Knives Out" video of Radiohead.
This film won two Oscar, and four Gold Globes to the best script, best principal actress, best principal actor, and best film in 2004.

It's the best film ever!

I had seen it many times. <3

It's the best scene, when Clementine remembers Joel (in his mind) he must to travel to Montauk to meet her again.
